The Michlbauerhütte is located on the Schneealm in the Upper Styrian Mürzsteger Alps. The Schneealpe is a limestone massif with a spacious alpine plateau and three prominent elevations. The highest is the Windberg at 1,903 meters. The summit is directly above the Michlbauerhütte.

The hut is open from the beginning of May to the end of October. Children can look forward to a children's playground and a petting zoo. Overnight stays are also possible, prices are available at ich-informiere.de/michlbauerhuette.
