The old village church, which stood on the same site as the current one, was built between 1483 and 1493. Old records show that it was built from the old stones of the Templar manor. It was dedicated to St. George, just like the church built on the same site in 1847.

The interior of the church was painted in 1921 by the Halle artist and painter Karl Völker (1889 -1962), and the windows, which unfortunately are no longer preserved, were also designed by him.
