The Vlatades Monastery is the only remaining Byzantine monastery in the city of Thessaloniki. It is a stauropegic, i.e. H. Monastery directly subordinate to the Ecumenical Patriarchate, located in the upper town directly below the Acropolis and has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage since 1988
