The stone statue of Dietmar desagonists, the legendary founder of the town, is the work of the Rieder sculptor Veit Adam Vogl, a contemporary of Thomas Schwanthaler.
The founding legend is based on a legendary event during the 3rd Crusade (1189-1192). The peasant Bundschuh was crucial as a substitute for the flag lost in battle.
