The oldest part of this church is the base of the church tower, which was built around 1680 and with it a nave, because the chapel, documented since 1271, was demolished. The upper part of the tower was renewed at Pentecost 1763 (end of the Seven Years' War) and at the same time a weathervane was added, which contains documents of the village history in the church tower button.

The weather vane was forged by Johann Friedrich Bode. It shows an angel holding back the saber of a fighting hussar and a second rider proclaiming peace with a trumpet.

The nave was rebuilt in 1800 and enlarged in 1874. In 1931 the church received a sacristy as an extension. Originally the chapel was built in honor of the Virgin Mary.
