This male ginkgo in the Goseck castle courtyard was planted in 1859 (according to the purchase receipt) by the family of the Counts of Zech-Burkersroda, who acquired the property that year and lived in it until 1945. The age of the tree at the time of planting is unknown. However, the plant was ordered from a nursery in Erfurt, so it would have been around 15 years old when it was placed on Goseck, so it is around 180 years old today.
