The Domažlice National Monument on Baldov Hill commemorates the victory of the Hussites over the crusader army of the Pope and Emperor in the Battle of Taus on August 14, 1431. Construction had begun at the end of the 1920s, with an 18-meter-high observation tower intended. However, only the base was realized, which remained empty for over eighty years. In 2015, a new design by sculptor Václav Fiala from Klatovy was implemented: a fifty-ton, six-meter-high granite monument in the shape of a Hussite chalice.
