A view of possibly the widest defense tower in Germany. It comes from the 12th century.

The Stolper Tower, called Grützpott, belongs to a group of tower castles that are rare today. The castle consisted only of a large tower and probably a small defensive wall surrounding it. It has dimensions of 18 m in diameter with a wall thickness of 6 m. The tower was surrounded by a perfectly preserved combination of moats and ramparts. The tower owes its name to the siege that, according to legend, took place. It is said that the tower was the nest of robber barons. It is said that the leader of the baron robbers was killed in one of his raids. When the local farmers found out about this, they wanted to finally destroy the castle of the robber barons and drive out the other robber barons who had now been robbed of their leader. They attacked the tower and captured it. Legend has it that the defenders poured out the barrows that they had just finished cooking. Since then, the tower has been called Grützpott.
