Ales South Bohemian Gallery - In the premises of the riding school I visited three exhibitions. I was most interested in Pištěk and his realistic works supplemented by other realists (Richter, Helnwein, Estes). I liked Škoda's "Footprints" the least, the author's work appealed to me only in connection with scenographic designs for theatrical performances. The MEN exhibition is a bit controversial, but it's about different representations of the male body, gender, personality and actually the way a man perceives himself, so it's undeniably an interesting spectacle. Over 100 works of art created from the late 19th century to the present are part of a private collection and are presented here by both Czech and European authors. It's often a very intimate and provocative statement by the authors, but that's ultimately what art is about.
