Square construction under a slate helmet. The customs house was built in 1912 with the construction of the first Moselle bridge in Longuich to collect the bridge toll. The bridge, which was destroyed at the end of World War II, was restored in 1949.

Anyone who crosses the Longuicher Moselle Bridge will be greeted by the bridge toll booth at the entrance to the town.
Someone was sitting in the toll booth collecting bridge fees. Over a hundred years ago, passers-by had to pay 0.15 Reichsmarks for a horse or mule. Poultry that were driven cost up to ten pieces at 0.03 Reichsmark. Crossing with a steamroller was really expensive. Ten Reichsmarks had to be shelled out. Kings or the “ordinary post and couriers” did not have to pay bridge fees 😅
