The model for the Peitz church is the Berlin St. Matthäus Church at the Kunstforum. The Prussian king decreed that the building plans for this church were published in the model book "Designs for churches, parish and school buildings..." as a "church for 1500 seats". Two other "sisters" were built based on this model in Bütow (now Bytow) and Neudamm (now Debno). However, the tower of the Peitz church was built in a much simpler style than the original for cost reasons.
