"The little church of Maria Hochheim was already documented as a place of pilgrimage in the 14th century.
In the 17th century, on the occasion of the Feast of the Visitation of Mary in July, the great pilgrimage day of the free imperial city of Rottweil was celebrated with a large procession. After the high mass, the pilgrims lay in the green, ate and drank what they had brought with them, or sat at the stalls around the chapel.
In 1802, at the end of the imperial city period, the last "state pilgrimage" to Maria Hochheim took place."
