There are some small trees that will give you protection from the elements if you want to take a break or spend the night. The view from the rim towards the Three Sisters and Broken Top is exceptional. To hike in this area between June 15 and October 15, you need to obtain a permit for the Central Cascades Wilderness here: recreation.gov.
