A Central Cascades Wilderness permit is required between June 15 and October 15 for both day use and overnight stays from this trailhead.

This trailhead sits at 6,550 feet, so road access may not be available until early June. You may need microspikes to access higher points until mid-July depending on snowfall. Check local conditions before heading out so that you can be prepared. Central Cascades Wilderness permits are only available online - you cannot pick one up at the local ranger station: recreation.gov/ticket/300009/ticket/2008Day use permits are released 10 days prior to issue date, with a second window opening two days prior to issue date. Overnight permits open on the first Tuesday in April at 7 am. Additional overnight permits will open up seven days prior to issue date.
