More specifically, you're in the Bergerbos. This is the northern part of the vast northern section of De Maasduinen National Park, along with the slightly lower-lying Bleijenbeek Estate, surrounding the ruins of Bleijenbeek Castle (which you can see).

Just like in the rest of the park, Bergerbos features dunes, forests, heathland, fens, and more. Among the fens are the Quin and Zevenboomsven fen complexes. A popular spot is the 12.5-meter-high observation tower in the middle of the heathland. A fire tower once stood on the same site.

In the Bleijenbeek Estate, you'll definitely want to see the Duvelskuul (Devil's Cave).

Suggestions for walks and more information can be found in this handy PDF, which also covers the Eckeltse Bergen and Eendenmeer lake: natuurparkenlimburg.nl/np/uploads/documenten/Routefolders%20Maasduinen/NP_Bergerbos_2012_Def_W.pdf

They're located a bit lower. And you're not even halfway through the National Park yet!

The Maasduinen National Park, located in the north of Limburg, is a unique nature reserve of more than 4500 hectares. The park extends over an elongated sand ridge between the Maas and the German border, and contains the longest river dune belt in the Netherlands. The park was created by a combination of water, wind and human influence over thousands of years. The area offers a varied landscape of forests, heathlands and dunes, where a rich flora and fauna can be found, including rare butterfly species, the nightjar, and the crane, which rests here in spring and autumn. The Maasduinen is an ideal place for walking and cycling tours, and also offers opportunities for experiencing nature and education. The park is managed by various organisations and is an important link in the nature network between the Netherlands and Germany.
