The Peters'sche Hof is a four-column house from the 16th century and is therefore an impressive testimony to Münsterland's agricultural culture, right in the heart of Ahlen's old town. The local history museum focuses on depicting urban development. Numerous objects explain how the city of Ahlen developed. The first Stone Age artifacts from the Ahlen area, early traces of settlement, medieval city structures and the development of Ahlen's industrialization are shown.

The newly established museum educational room offers school classes the opportunity to understand the city's history intensively and clearly at this extracurricular learning location.

In the special exhibition room “Alte Deele” interesting and vivid exhibitions about Ahlen’s city history are presented again and again. In addition, the agrarian Flettküche with its old fireplace offers a very attractive atmosphere as a venue for civil weddings.
