On an area of 10,500 square meters, the visitor learns something about the development of the landscape on the left side of the Lower Rhine. Not only the beautiful nature, but also an instructive path invite you to visit and linger. A naturally designed stream gives nature lovers an overview of a river from its source to its mouth. The system also provides insights into the biodiversity of the region with its layers of gravel and clay below the surface.

Geo-hydrological water garden in the Kaldenkirchener Border Forest
In the geo-hydrological water garden, follow the path from the source to the mouth through a typical Lower Rhine flora and fauna. On 10,500 square meters, the biodiversity of the Lower Rhine landscape is presented. In the covered information stand in the entrance area is informed on the basis of boards and notices about the emergence of the landscape area left Lower Rhine with its sandy, gravel and clay layers.

Through the grounds runs a 130-meter-long creek, which visitors can follow along a circular path. The path explains the manifold functions of a body of water with its flora and fauna. Here are also other habitats such as moorland, Bruchwald or a pond with Schilfröhricht that gives an insight into the present vegetation of our wetlands. Various forms of rain retention, near-natural wastewater treatment through plant clarification or ecological rainwater infiltration are clearly presented. In the brown coal forest are numerous plant species, which were native in our forests of more than two million years.

        The complex is handicapped accessible.
