The Seeve River rises between Handeloh and Undeloh and, after meandering 40 km through the geest (sandy upland), flows into the Elbe River.
Here, you can follow the course of the Seeve for a while and get good views of the heathland stream habitat from small bridges. With a bit of luck, you might even hear the call of the kingfisher or catch a glimpse of its exotic blue plumage as it flies low over the water.
Clear, cool, and oxygen-rich water is essential for fish species such as grayling, brown trout, and sea trout.
