Excavation site located on a forest path. In a burial mound, the remains of a burned house with two burials were found. You can see the arrangement of the grave places as well as the post holes of the house. Information boards with explanations are available.

A surprising discovery was made in 1932 in the Grünhof Tesperhude district.
When a Bronze Age burial mound was being removed, four burials from the Middle Bronze Age were found. The age of the graves is estimated at around 1200 BC.

Under the direction of the archaeologist Karl Kersten, rectangular stone packing with post holes and two hollows were discovered when the burial mound was being removed, containing the remains of tree coffins containing the relics of a young woman and her small child.
Further research results indicate that a mortuary made of fieldstone, wood and clay-plastered wicker walls was built over the graves.
The house was burned down and a mound of earth was piled up over the remains.
The mortuary in Grünhof Tesperhude is the only known burial site from this period north of the Elbe.
The Bronze Age burial site can be visited at any time.
The graves are located near the B5 towards Lauenburg.

Just after the Grünhof district, turn left into the forest.

      The grave site is signposted.

It is not possible to get there directly by car.

The detour is difficult to do by bike, is easily accessible on foot and has something mystical about it.
