Fussen has a beautiful historic old town. A walk through the narrow streets and along the city wall is a nice experience. Also, a visit to the monastery of St. Mang or a tour of the castle park are highly recommended.

The Füssen lute and violin makers made Lechstadt famous throughout Europe. In 1562 the first lute maker guild in Europe was founded here. The Museum of the City of Füssen in the St. Mang Monastery therefore houses a collection of historical lutes and violins. Medieval alleys and town houses, baroque churches and monasteries, small fine shops create a very special atmosphere in the romantic old town. In summer the many street cafes offer an almost Italian flair. The city is dominated by the High Castle with its colorful illusion paintings.

The old town of Füssen is not huge now, but still worth seeing :-) If you are in the mood for something special, buy a "snowball" which is available with different fillings - it's worth it :-)
