Whether you're on foot or by bike, you should plan to visit Hopfensee. There are plenty of places to eat in the town. In summer it's mostly overrun by day-trippers - by car. It's a different story on the circular route, but there are a lot of cyclists. The left side of the circular route is very idyllic in places, see photos.
A lovely hike around the lake not just in summer, but also in winter.

I can only recommend a tour around the Hopfensee to everyone. The paths are well developed (solid gravel) and there is so much to see. We drove around it at least once every day of our vacation.
