The ascent from the Lauchtal up to le Markstein to the Route de Cretes overcomes approximately 630 vertical meters. In the lower part moderately along the valley, later a bit steeper, but never over 10%, on the mountain side shady through forest to a short intermediate slope to the Lac de la leek. From here continue on a moderate incline to the Route de Cretes. The road is in good condition (07/2018), well developed two lanes and makes fun even in the downhill.

A beautiful and long climb. Don't be fooled by the elevation profile because there are still quite a few challenging kilometers in it. The road surface is great, but unfortunately there is also quite a bit of traffic. You drive through a beautiful wooded area and at one point you see a beautiful lake. From Le Markstein it is not much more.
