This fort was part of the system of fortifications built to protect the city of Genoa from incursions from the North together with Fort Puin, Fort Diamante and Fort Fratello Minore.
It was involved in numerous armed clashes and was abandoned in the late 1800s. In 1937 it was definitively demolished.
