The "Stahlschmidt" rest area, also known colloquially as "Spider", is the central crossroads on the ridge of the Ebbe Mountains.
The ridge of the Ebbe Mountains opens up like a spider's web from this resting place. You stand in a large nature reserve of Europe-wide importance (according to the flora and fauna habitat directive of the European Union). The moors, which are often located on both sides of the paths, are unique in their special form as slope and spring moors. These bogs can be recognized by the moor birches growing there. The moors are home to the last high-moor mother-of-pearl butterflies in North Rhine-Westphalia and other protected plants such as the Märzenbecher.
The Nordhelle, at 663 m above sea level, the highest point in the Ebbe Mountains, can be reached in a few minutes. In addition to the Robert Kolb Tower of the Sauerland Mountain Association (SGV), the transmission towers of the West German Broadcasting Corporation of the WDR are also located here.

From the "Spider" out dozens of ways in all directions. Good information boards on site. Sauerland high-altitude flight leads here too.
