To protect the Bogaertsvelden district against flooding in extreme weather conditions, the Province of Antwerp designed this flood zone on the northern edge of Lier. Besides dry feet, this investment also offers great added value for nature and local residents. The zone is ecologically designed with a meandering watercourse and permanent pools. A cycling and walking path with even a bridge provide a pleasant resting point in the city.
