Beautiful village church with tower. As far as is known, Herpt fell under the parish of Aalburg until the eleventh century. In 1148 Herpt got its own priest. The pastor of Aalburg agreed to this, as did the abbot and prior of the Norbertine Abbey in Berne, founded in 1135. The church dedicated to Saint Trudo was built. During the reform, the building was renovated. In 1852 there was again thought of establishing a church community, but it was not until 1892 that permission was given to found a parish. First, a building was purchased (café annex house), after which the renovation was started in 1893 and a pastor was appointed. This location was used until 1924. Since January 1, 2003, the parishes of St. Catharina in Heusden, H. Catharina in Herpt and H. Lambertus in Hedikhuizen form a pastoral unit under the name "De Bernse Maasparochies". The parishes are located on the Meuse and have a relationship with the Abbey of Berne from the past.
