It was nicknamed Halvezolenlijntje because of the transport of materials for the shoe factories in the area.
During construction, the possibility of expanding the line to two tracks in the future was taken into account, which is still visible in the width of the supporting pillars of the Moerputtenbrug in the Moerputten nature reserve.
