Höchster Porcelain Manufactory

It was first founded in 1746 as the Electoral Mainz Porcelain Manufactory by Johann Christoph Göltz and Adam Friedrich von Löwenfinck (1714–1754), a porcelain painter from Meissen. It is therefore the second oldest foundation of a porcelain manufactory in Germany and the only one in Hesse. The company logo of the Höchst Porcelain Manufactory is the Mainz wheel. The manufactory was granted the founding privilege and the monopoly position for the Electoral Mainz area by the Archbishop of Mainz, Johann Friedrich Karl von Ostein. One of the most important artists of the manufactory was the court sculptor Johann Peter Melchior, who worked for a few years from 1768 as a model master in Höchst.
