St. Georg, along with St. Margareth, is one of the oldest churches in Lana. During excavations, the remains of a wooden church built in the 8th to 9th centuries were discovered, which was replaced by a three-apse church built in stone.[1] The church was first mentioned in a document in 1265. The current church building dates from the 13th to 14th centuries and was rebuilt several times, so there are also traces of the Baroque period. The first renovation took place in 1967 and another in 1986 through a citizens' initiative.
