"The leisurely Waalweg walk crosses the foothills of the Ortler Alps on its scenic route between Oberlana and Niederlana. From the first days of spring until late autumn, the Waalwege, as the paths along the old irrigation canals are called, offer wonderful views of the mountains and the Etschtal, but also exciting insights into a diverse cultural landscape. The ancient Waalwege are among the most atmospheric walking paths in South Tyrol. The Brandis Waalweg runs gently through vineyards, apple orchards and chestnut groves along the low mountain range. The path branches off to the left from the Gampenstraße in Oberlana and leads via Lanegg Monastery and the St. Margarethen Church to the waterfall in the Brandis Gorge in Niederlana. It offers wonderful views of the Tschögglberg as well as Lana and the Merano valley basin. An ideal walking path to reach the parish church of Lana with the famous Schnatterpeck altar."Source:

Very beautiful Walweg between Niederlana and Mittellana - when I go on holiday for 2 weeks in September, I walk it at least 5-6 times, even if it's just to have a coffee in Mittellana.
