The bridge was originally commissioned by Emanuele Filiberto Duca D'Aosta to commemorate the sailors who died in the Great War. The work was carried out by the Municipality of Cavazuccherina (now Jesolo) and was inaugurated on 9 October 1927. In 1959 the bridge was renovated, also by redoing the commemorative monuments in a more external position so as to improve vehicular traffic. In 2011-12 the bridge was renovated and expanded with the creation of a cycle-pedestrian path on the eastern side.
