The beach is so wonderful and is particularly suitable for long beach walks.
There you can also find the remains of the Germans who, from 1943 to August 1944, had set up an extensive coastal battery in the dunes as part of the "Fortress Mouth of Gironde South", which consisted of numerous bunkers and gradually disappeared deeper into the sand due to the tides . Some serve as shade, others can be used as diving boards, as the gun bunkers and bunkers in the first row have already sunk into the sea.
. This can be best observed at the tip of the La Pointe headland, where around a dozen of these concrete buildings rise out of the sand or sea at low tide. Graffiti decorates many of the bunkers and makes them photo opportunities.
