Cap Ferret is one of the most popular summer vacation destinations. The headland separates the Bassin d'Arcachon from the Atlantic, the beach with a view of the bay is surrounded by pine forests and therefore isolated from the winds that come from the Atlantic. The main attraction of the cape is the lighthouse, which is open every day. A staircase with 258 steps leads to the top, from where you can look over the entire bay to Arcachon.

The Cap Ferret lighthouse, as we see it today, dates back to 1947.
The very first, dating back to 1840, was destroyed by the retreating Germans.
Remains of a bunker complex can still be seen on site!
