☆ The wooden tower... in its current form from 1680... Was there before 1500. A small bronze bell from the year 1495 bears witness to this... 😯

St. John's Church in Kühlungsborn - the first cycle path church in MecklenburgThe fieldstone church was built in 1220 by the nuns of Parchow. Its special feature is the wooden bell tower (in its current form from 1680), which was already standing like this before 1500. Around 1400, the church was extended to include the Gothic choir and the vault. The triumphal cross group and the Madonna figure date from around 1400.
Local families immortalized themselves in the 42 baroque stained glass windows in the choir windows around 1660. In 1963, the EULE company (Bautzen) built a new organ for this church (11 sounding registers on two manuals).

Was on the way during our hike to the Wichmannsdorfer height. Interesting building and cemetery.
