Please check local regulations for: Yoho National Park
The Emerald Lake is one of the most beautiful and varied hiking destinations in the Yoho National Park. It was not until 1882 that Emerald Lake happened to be discovered by mountain guide Tom Wilson when he caught some ridden horses and struck the lake. The approximately one-hour hike around the lake is one of the simplest, but at the same time worthwhile, Yoho National Park. The Michael Glacier or the world-famous Burgess Shale deposits are located here and are just a few of the many geological features in the area. The lake is also the most important watering hole for a variety of wild animals, which we often encounter along the trails.

Beautiful Lake surrounded by rugged mountains. If you're planning to go there in high season, I would recommend to arrive early, as the small parking lot fills fast. We've arrived around 10 a.m. on a July weekend and were lucky to find some of the last parking spots (which actually are none) along the street. If you're not fond of huge selfie-tourist crowds, proceed as fast as you can onto the trail, there it is much more quiet and peaceful :)
