Memorial in honor of the former Chancellor Otto von Bismarck (1815-1898).

The tower was dedicated on June 21, 1903 for the Solstice celebration. The 18,000 mark construction costs were met by the Göttinger Turmbauverein through donations and contributions. Originally, the tower was surrounded by six pillars arranged in a semicircle, on which small fire bowls were placed. The braziers on the tower and piers were regularly lit at midsummer celebrations.
The six pillars were removed in the 1950s and the fire bowl on the Bismarckstein in the 1970s. In the summer of 1965, the fate of the stone was widely discussed. At times there were plans to convert the Bismarck stone into a memorial for the victims of the years 1933 to 1945. However, the complete demolition of what is popularly known as the "elephant toilet" was also considered. Finally, from 2002 to 2005, it was renovated in sections for 15,000 euros and reopened on September 11, 2005.
