The Elm-Lappwald Nature Park is an important part of the Elm-Lappwald tourism region. It encompasses the Elm, Lappwald, Dorm, Elz, and Eiz forests, as well as the Helmstedt Basin.

The entire area of the Elm-Lappwald Nature Park covers approximately 470 square kilometers. In addition to the Elm and Lappwald forests, from which it takes its name, it includes bogs, springs and ponds, heaths, and salt marshes. The nature park is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna and provides refuge for many endangered species in its designated nature reserves.
