This church dates from the 12th century, but was mainly built in the 14th century. Remarkably, it is probably the only church in France built in the English Gothic style.

In 1843, some medieval paintings were discovered under a thick layer of whitewash. One of the paintings showed a female figure holding an orange shield with nine gold coins in her right hand. Another painting represented the Virgin Mary with the child Jesus and a bishop calling on her. These frescoes also contain the motto “Le Jour Viendra” (The day will come) and the coats of arms of the Woodhouse family, who were involved in the beautification of the church and the origin of the paintings.
