Tips
In one of the oldest parts of the town lies the Burghalde with the Allgäu Castle Museum. Once surrounded by the Iller, it was home to a late Roman fort and in the Middle Ages a castle belonging to the monastery governors. In 1488 it became part of the town fortifications. The tower dates from this period.
