The Porto Vecchio di Santo Stefano, one of the oldest ports in Tuscany, is the port located in the western part of the capital of the municipality of Monte Argentario.

It is the oldest and most characteristic port of Porto Santo Stefano. Between the end of the sixteenth century and the beginning of the seventeenth century, thanks to the Spanish rulers of the State of the Presidi, the locality began to assume a strategic role, being equipped with a fortification. The port was built in the seventeenth century, which was protected behind by the Ancient Tower, which rose in the Piazza dei Rioni where there is the current municipal seat, and was completely destroyed by the bombing of the Second World War.
In recent times, the new commercial and industrial needs favored the more modern and ample Porto del Valle; since then, the Porto Vecchio began to be a landing place for fishermen, until it became a characteristic tourist mooring during the last century.
