It owes its name to the ancient gypsum quarries. To reach it, take the panoramic road from Porto Santo Stefano until you arrive at km 5.9 immediately after cala moresca, where on the right you take a small road called via dei Pionieri. At the end of the descent, cross a gate with a pedestrian crossing, and descend on an asphalted path about 700 meters long which ends with a short but steep staircase. During the descent you can enjoy breathtaking views. The return uphill is not recommended in the hottest hours. The path is not tiring and you are amply rewarded by the beauty of this cove. The beach is made up of very small and smooth pebbles, in front there is the islet of Argentarola, while on the end of the cliff on the right, there are the remains of a Spanish tower of the sixteenth century.

Cala del Gesso, on the other hand, owes its name to the ancient gypsum quarries that were once active: the bay was probably used as a starting point for the maritime transport of the extracted rock. 5.9 immediately after cala moresca, where on the right you take the small road called via dei Pionieri.
