From the mountain station of the Hochwurzen summit lift, follow path no. 60 over the "Kleine Wurzen" through the forest to the Hüttecksattel (1,744 m), from where the path climbs slowly to the long ridge of the Rossfeld (1,919 m). When crossing the ridge you can guess where the mountain got its name from. From Rossfeld it goes slightly downhill to the wayside cross on the Latterfußsattel (1,792 m).

With a bit of stamina, the hike from Hochwurzen via the Rossfeld to the Giglachsee lakes is highly recommended. (Overnight stay at the Ignaz-Mattishütte is possible)
