Travemünde Harbor

The gateway to the Baltic Sea
In the harbor of Travemünde old and new are together: here you can experience windjammers, trawlers, steam icebreakers and ferry giants up close. The arrival and departure of the large ferries, freighters and cruise ships makes wanderlust arise.
The first steamboats (1820) brought travelers from Copenhagen, Riga and St. Petersburg to Travemünde.
The port was given its present appearance in the 60s. With the construction of the Scandinavia quay in 1962, the port received eight investors, three of them for rail transport. This makes the Port of Travemünde one of the largest ferry ports in northern Europe.
