A historic bell located in the Basilica of Santa María la Real de Covadonga. The bell has a weight of approximately 2,500 kg and a diameter of 1.80 meters. It is considered a symbol of Asturias, since it is closely related to the history and identity of the region. It was cast in 1877 and was installed in the tower of the basilica. The bell has been used to announce significant events throughout its history, such as the end of World War II and the visit of Pope John Paul II in 1989. It is also rung on important religious occasions, such as during the celebration of Valentine's Day. the Virgin of Covadonga, the patron saint of Asturias.
