THE LOISACH & ITS SOURCES
From its origins in Tyrol to Bavaria
The Loisach and its springs are a wonderful destination for the whole family. If water is your element, visit the Loisach and Loisach Springs. Especially on hot summer days you can enjoy the cool freshness here!

The approx. 110 km long Loisach rises in a swamp area in the municipality of Biberwier and flows from there through Ehrwald, along the Zugspitze to the German border and further through Grainau and Garmisch-Partenkirchen until it flows into the Isar near Wolfratshausen. The water of the Loisach is also an important supplier for energy production in our region.

The Loisach springs in Biberwier, near Blindsee, Mittersee and Weißensee, were created almost 4,000 years ago by a huge crushed stone. The extensive source area of the Loisach consists of a shallow lake. The water here bubbles up directly from the earth from many individual sources and shines particularly intensely due to the strong coloring of algae and water.
