Bavinckhove is a picturesque village in the Nord department of the Hauts-de-France region, close to the Belgian border. With approximately 1,200 inhabitants, it breathes the authentic atmosphere of French-Flemish rural life. Situated at the foot of the Mont des Récollets, Bavinckhove offers beautiful views over the rolling countryside and is an ideal place for lovers of nature and peace.

The village is characterised by its traditional Flemish architecture, with charming brick houses and atmospheric streets that take you back in time. At its heart is the Église Saint-Omer, a historic church from the 16th century with beautiful stained glass windows and rich ornaments that bear witness to a deep-rooted history.

It is a three-aisled hall church, built in the 16th and 17th centuries. The brick church is in a late Gothic style, but the west facade of the nave is still constructed from chunks of iron sandstone and probably dates back to Romanesque. The church has a round-arched portal, which was restored. In 1703 the church was slightly modified. The choir dates from 1763 and the organ dates from 1784. On the northern outer wall there are gravestones from 1537 and 1724.
