The Christian valley is located in the Stauferland near Lauterstein north of the district Nenningen; It was allegedly named after a fictional battle between pagans and Christians, which has been localized since the time around 1800 - following a fiction by the chronicler Thomas Lirer. The 18 m high and 220 m long dam was built of soil material. The size of the storage space is 262,000 cubic meters; in another source the flood protection area is given as 168,000 cubic meters.
