I parked at the beginning of the route to enjoy the whole excursion but if you have a suitable car you can park at the Pirello.

Monte Pizzocolo Summit Trail from Parco Alto Garda Bresciano

    860m

Embark on the Monte Pizzocolo Summit Trail, a difficult hike spanning 5.9 miles (9.4 km) with a significant elevation gain of 2835 feet (864 metres), typically taking around 5 hours and 8 minutes to complete. As you ascend, you'll move through dense woodlands and over limestone slabs, following well-marked paths and red trail markers. The route offers continuous glimpses of Lake Garda, eventually opening up to expansive views where Monte Castello di Gaino rises from the water. The varied terrain, from shaded forest sections to rocky passages, makes for a challenging yet rewarding climb. You'll find yourself immersed in the natural beauty of Parco Alto Garda Bresciano, with the promise of panoramic vistas awaiting at the top.

To begin your hike, head to the parking area within Parco Alto Garda Bresciano. The trailhead is accessible from Toscolano Maderno; you should follow directions toward Maclino and then continue to Ortello di Sotto, where you will find the designated parking. It is advisable to start early in the day to allow ample time for the full duration of the climb and to enjoy the summit views. Always check local conditions before you go, especially regarding weather, as this is a mountain trail.

This route leads you to one of the region's most spectacular viewpoints, offering sweeping panoramas from Monte Rosa to the Adamello group, and across the Brenta Dolomites to Monte Baldo. Near the summit, you'll encounter the small Cappella degli Alpini, a memorial chapel built on World War I ruins, adding a historical layer to your journey. The Bivacco Due Aceri, originally a Great War artifact, is also located just below the summit, providing a mountain refuge. On clear days, you can even spot the artificial lake of Valvestino in the northern valleys.
