Gunung Rinjani is an active volcano and is located on the island of Lombok east of Bali. With a height of 3,726 m, it is the second highest volcano in Indonesia after Gunung Kerinci on Sumatra. The large Rinjani Caldera is partially filled by the crater lake Danau Segara Anak. In the lake, the active Barujari Volcano is growing upwards.

Hiking

Great view over Lombok, the Gili Islands and even Bali and its vulcanos. The trek to the summit is very hard, especially the last couple of hundred metres to the summit, due to the loose volcanic sand. You take 3 steps up and two steps down at the same time. Worth it though.
