🚲✨ The Sühnekreuz at the Steverquelle (often also called the Mordkreuz von Stevern) is a silent and at the same time eerie testament to medieval legal history. It stands hidden in a small grove near the Steverquellen in Nottuln and recalls a dark crime that took place here almost 500 years ago.

The folk legend tells a dark tale about this: Schulte Westerath is said to have been murdered by his farmhand. The farmer had previously chased the farmhand off the farm due to dishonesty, whereupon he lay in wait for his former master in the shelter of the forests at the Steverquelle. 🎭🌲
